Exemplars

Welcome to the Exemplar section of my portfolio!

Throughout my graduate studies and my professional engagement with the City of Los Angeles, I have undertaken diverse projects that showcase the application of Industrial/Organizational Psychology in real-world settings. This section presents four exemplar projects that illustrate my ability to integrate I/O psychology principles into practical solutions tailored to meet organizational needs. These initiatives have sharpened my ability to design impactful organizational interventions, refine complex data, and implement strategic solutions effectively.

Explore this section to understand how these experiences have shaped my professional development and enhanced my expertise as an I/O professional.

Job Analysis

As part of a consultation project for my Personnel Psychology course, I partnered with Kumon Tutoring Center to conduct a comprehensive job analysis for the role of a Teaching Assistant. This project involved a systematic evaluation of job duties and the requisite skills and abilities, aimed at refining the hiring process and enhancing job performance within the organization. My role as a consultant allowed me to apply theoretical principles from I/O Psychology in a practical setting, delivering tailored recommendations to meet Kumon’s organizational needs.

Scale Development

The development of the "Adaptability at Work Scale" was a focal project in my Test Construction course. Alongside a team of fellow I/O Psychology graduate students, we identified the need for a scale measuring workplace adaptability in the rapidly changing professional landscape post-COVID-19. This process involved extensive research, item writing, and rigorous testing to create a reliable and valid measure that evaluates adaptability along two dimensions (situational and interpersonal) among employees.

Training Development

In this project, we developed a targeted training program for Nourish Madagascar, aimed at enhancing food safety and nutrition practices among parent volunteers and local schoolchildren. Our team worked closely with the organization’s founder and cultural liaisons to ensure that the training materials were culturally relevant and accessible, meeting the specific needs of the local communities during the critical hunger seasons.

Practicum

In my role as an Exam Analyst Intern with the City of Los Angeles, I embarked on a practicum project aimed at enhancing the efficiency of police officer recruitment. This project involved a detailed analysis of the costs associated with each stage of the recruitment process, identifying inefficiencies, and developing recommendations to optimize spending and improve recruitment practices.
